1x Uniq Cree Q5 Drop-In Module
Construction
The Uniq Cree Q5 drop-in is pretty much like most P60 compatible LED modules. It's meant to be used in place of a standard SureFire P60 or P60L module. If you have a SureFire 6P for instance, you can effectively transform it into an LED based light by swapping out the P60 module with this one. The main benefit of these third party LED modules is that they are cheaper than the SureFire P60L module. The finish on the Uniq module is well done, nothing much wrong here. Emitter and reflector are nicely aligned. The polished finish on the reflector is better than most of the cheaper modules which cost about $10 to $15. There are no chipped off of rusted areas on the coating of the reflector. The spring on the rear is firm and holds the light in place well. |
Output
This Uniq module is powered by a Q5 bin XR-E LED and is advertised as driving 1A of current to the LED. No lumens rating was specified. The nice thing about this module is it can accommodate a wide range of input voltages from 3.7V to 15V. Beam profile from the module produces a medium sized hotspot and a good amount of spill. There is a subtle dark ring around the hotspot but it isn't as apparent as with most other XR-E based modules. Color temperature from the LED is slightly cool. As you can see from the runtime graph below, it maintain regulation better with higher input voltages. The output does drop noticeably during the initial few seconds though.

Conclusion
The Good - Nicely made with good heat sinking. Able to run on a wide variety of cells.
The Bad - Regulation isn't held well when running on a single 3.7V li-ion cell.
The Relative - Slightly cool beam color temperature.
