The head of this particular Xenide model houses a glass lens, textured reflector and a 20W HID bulb. The head is set for an optimal focused beam, it can not be twisted for refocusing the beam. The lens is made of plain glass, without any AR coating. It is however of high quality and will withstand high temperatures. This is important especially in lights using such bulbs. Below the lens sits a thick rubber o-ring which provides water resistance and padding between the lens and reflector. The textured reflector is consistent and well polished, it seems perfect, I was unable to find any defects such as marks, blotches or scratches on my sample. The entire head has been constructed with all the necessary seals to keep the light waterproof. The anodized coating on the head is smooth and consistent, it has a smooth glossy finish. The bezel can be removed to attach any of the available lens/filters compatible with the Xenide models.

The Xenide 20W is very well made to be used in most weather environments and is rated as waterproof. The 20W version comes with a 2200mAh as default, while the 25W version comes with a larger and higher capacity 4400mAh battery pack. The light is large, it has a hefty girth and weight when compare to most regular flashlights and is best carried with the included shoulder strap which clips onto the rings at either ends of the light. The battery pack is constructed as part of the Xenide's body and and screws onto the ballast section, not as a drop in pack like most other lights. Charging is done by plugging in the adaptor jack to the female connector at the bottom of the battery pack. The connector has a rubber flat which keep the female connector sealed from moisture. On the exterior side of the battery tube and ballast are rubber grips with horizontal grooves which provide good grip. There are thick rubber o-rings between the ballast and battery pack for water resistance. The tail cap of the Xenide does not house a switch. The switch is located just below the head and is part of the ballast housing. It has a rubber membrane on it which is sealed as well for water resistance. Overall, the Xenide series by has excellent fit and finish, everything is held in place tightly and securely. The thick rubber o-rings and rubber seals ensure this lights is totally safe to use in wet environments.

The output from the 20W HID bulb is intense and has an extremely focused 6³ hot spot. The bulb takes about 15 seconds to warm up and reach maximum intensity like most current HID bulbs. The hot spot is smooth and an almost pure white color, perhaps slightly on the cool side. As mentioned above, the head is not focusable so you can't use this light to achieve a flood beam, however you can purchase the diffuser lens which will achieve similar same results. The Boxer 10W is rated at about 1200 lumens.

The Good - Excellent build quality and waterproof. Many lens/filter options available. Good runtime and output.

The Bad - HID bulbs are more costly than xenons. Hefty size.

The Relative - Almost pure cool white tint. Beam is fixed focus for spot profile. Bulb takes about 15 seconds to warm up to full intensity.
